The first weathervane on the spire of the Admiralty appeared in 1719. The Admiralty was conceived as the main shipyard of Russia on the Baltic Sea, and was the center of ship construction. The premises of the Admiralty were shipyards. The first ship from the Admiralty was launched on April 29, 1706. The most likely prototype of the ship was the Ingermanland steamship, the most modern ship of that time and the most favorite warship of Peter the Great, built in 1712-1715. Today the ship on the spire of the Admiralty is one of the symbols of St. Petersburg - it is depicted on the medal "For the Defense of Leningrad St. Petersburg is the maritime capital of Russia, which is surrounded by water, often on all sides. The blue light blue background and raindrops in the media version of the work, immerse the viewer in the "watery" element of the city.
