Just a few miles south of Taos and about a thousand feet lower near the village of Pilar is a section of the Rio Grande you can drive along for views like this. Given the scarcity of liquid water in these parts, it's a good place to see migrating waterfowl or fish. At almost any time of year, animals and birds not usually observed up in the sagebrush desert may cross your path here. About 20 minutes away from where we lived in Llano Quemado, too. 4082 x 2692, 300 ppi.

New Mexico belongs to God and we just pass on through. As I once wrote, "The thing was though, they'd done it, the entire Taos murder trip, yet both of them were still together, healthy, and the love danced in her eyes." Kathy & I moved from Maryland to Taos County in 1999. The landing was a shock but we gave it all we had. New Mexico is never easy but stupendous. The story's in the photographs & their descriptions.
