The Bezier curve was a concept discovered by Paul De Casteljau and later refined by Pierre Bezier in the 1960’s while working for car maker Renault. The Bezier Curve is a parametric curve which is defined by a minimum of three points consisting of origin, endpoint and one or more control point. Other uses of this polynomial include designing computer fonts, ui/ux animations and programming of robots to reduce strain and wear.
A composite bézier curve is commonly referred to as a “path” in vector graphics languages and form the core of Graphic Design programs such as Adobe Illustrator.
Born in England in 1997, Mitchell has worked as an Industrial Designer in Cambridge, London, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Jakarta and presently resides in Amsterdam working with an award winning Dutch branding and industrial design studio. His career started early at age 17 when a London homewares brand bought the manufacturing rights to a bird box that he designed for a school project. Since this, he has worked with companies such as Rado, Karim Rashid, Bosch, Unilever and Canon as well as exhibiting his research into Phase Change Materials at London Design Festival in partnership with DesignJunction a few years ago.
He sees each project as pause for reflection, a formal study in essence, emotion and narrative. The artefacts he creates are not soulless and have a conveyed origin. They exist as something not entirely new but of a progression in Industrial Design history, closely influenced by current affairs and material/technological innovations.
