Looping video 30sec 2160x3840px 60fps
Meet MY ELODEA. This sweet friend wants to do so many nice things for the world! Like create oxygen to breathe, provide a home for aquatic invertebrates and microbes, and shelter young fish and amphibians. Elodea is a genus of aquatic plant that thrives in rivers and lakes, and decorates many freshwater aquariums.
In the background, microscopic video pans across individual cells of Elodea. Elodea leaves are just two cells thick, so it’s possible to see their cells under a microscope without sectioning the leaf.
Elodea live underwater, except for little white flowers which bloom at the surface and are attached to the plant by delicate stalks. Their leaves grow stacked on a central stem. Ducks snack on elodea, as do turtles.
