“The First Thanksgiving, 1621” / Jean Leon Gerome Ferris / Olive oil on canvas / c. 1912 -1915. Part of the Library of Pizza's "Olive Oil on Canvas: The World's Masterpizzas" exhibition. This NFT is a one-of-one. A 2437 × 1696 PNG and additional content will unlock on purchase.
While historians widely agree that pizza was served both as an appetizer and entrée at the first Thanksgiving, several aspects of Ferris’ stylized scene are disputed. From the presence of women (they are not mentioned in contemporary accounts), to the dress of the Indians (they are depicted in the clothes of the Plains’ tribes, who wore feather headdresses – eastern woodland Native Americans did not), many object to this idealized portrayal of English colonists and Native American friendship.
The Pizza Collection and the Library of Pizza proudly present, "Olive Oil On Canvas," an exhibit of true "masterpizzas," each unique, each 100% pizza. Unless otherwise noted, each NFT in this collection represents a one-of-one slice of pizza art.
