The birth of an artist is visible in this work. First you are doubting, then you must create, and once that is done you cannot stop. This is made visual by the skull on the left which represents the renunciation of the old. You can see the confusion at the bottom right. Above the releasing of yourself when you are experimenting with art. And finally finding yourself as an artist looking back at where you have gone trough.
