Running Rabbit by Poesy RR057

The Running Rabbit is a signature by artist Poesy小詩 since 2000 and sold as paintings since 2011.

As Poesy was born the year of rabbit on the Chinese zodiac, she identifies with the rabbit and the Running Rabbit first appeared in her body of work as a self portrait.

One day while chasing between airports far away from home, Poesy stops to question why she is always running - why does she run so fast too!

She tackles her existence and of humankind - always chasing, being chased, running towards, running after, running away.

Just.

Always.

Running.

What exactly is her life purpose?

This rabbit has much going for her, she continues to grow and gain wisdom as she sees the world. Despite all setbacks, she just did not stop running round and round the globe - reinventing herself at every station. 



She wants to make the world a better place, but can she stop running?

The global pandemic hit. A relief to finally stay put, Poesy observe the world spin past her so very fast even when she did not run.

Quiet reflections and reinventions continue, and she inevitably arrives on OpenSea.

OCT 3 2021 - Poesy sold her first NFT - it came with an original painting ‘Running Rabbit NYC : Eidolon’s Flight’. In the Poesy Originals collection, she offers the option to "DELIVER or DESTROY' the original artwork, and the collector who acquired the NFT chose not to have the physical painting delivered.

OCT 10 2021 - Poesy went on to honour her commitment to deface her painting and made a video for her NFT collector - this unavoidably caused an outcry among the community around her.

“Was she really going to destroy her own painting?”


“Will Poesy murder her rabbit?”


“Does she really have to do this?”


“Is there another way out?”


Poesy manages to make peace with what she committed to do to her rabbit painting, but she found even greater relief when her rabbit started to run again. 




“Well well well, it is a Running Rabbit after all!!” Poesy muses. 




What more, this rabbit painting was named ‘Eidolon’s Flight’ - it had wanted to flee its canvas ever since it was created in 2019 between NYC and Basel.

Where did the Running Rabbit go??

As with Chinese folklore, the rabbit resides on the moon. Poesy's Running Rabbit is running-running-running on the moon, and as rabbits do, it multiplied - into 111 rabbits!! 




And, they are all girl rabbits just like Poesy - the girl with the colourful background..

What will happen next?

Will they all find love?

Will they live an illustrious life?

Will they breed rabbit families?

Will they be happy with their life choices?



Each rabbit was hand drawn by Poesy, 111 unique girls with their bright and bouncy future on the moon, occupying themselves with individual objects of affection and adornments. 




Meantime, since forever, the full moon has always appeared on Poesy’s signature works, but that is a story from another chapter of her poetic life.
