Lost Feeling - If you've had the opportunity then you will remember the truly humbling experience of seeing Saturn's ring through a telescope for the first time. Even though the gas giant is 1.6 billion km away from earth, the planet and famous ring make such an impact on you. Saturn's rings are thought to be pieces of comets, asteroids, or shattered moons that broke up before they reached the planet, torn apart by Saturn's powerful gravity. They are made of billions of small chunks of ice and rock coated with other materials such as dust.

If you haven't had this experience I really encourage you to ! I can promise you won't regret it.

The process to capture further planets is similar, however a lot more video frames are needed to be able to see the details.

Our Closest Neighbour collection image

Located 384,400km away is our closest cosmic neighbour, our very own moon. Humans have been depicting and studying this 4.53 billion year old rock for over 4000 years now. This collection is a small slice of this history and shows my own perceptions and lunar photography of this wonder in the sky.

1/1 Photographs

All photographs are taken from my own back garden using a Nikon FX dlsr camera paired with a celestron 114eq telescope. 10,000 of pictures are taken and then stacked together to bring out the details whilst reducing the photo noise.

“The moon is a loyal companion. It never leaves. It’s always there, watching, steadfast, knowing us in our light and dark moments, changing forever just as we do. Every day it’s a different version of itself. Sometimes weak and wan, sometimes strong and full of light. The moon understands what it means to be human. Uncertain. Alone. Cratered by imperfections.” ― Tahereh Mafi, Shatter Me
