Flying mobula rays.

The official name is Munk's Devil Ray, which is actually a member of the same family as the manta ray.

Generally speaking, all flying rays are males, and it is said that they fly to appeal to females. However, when observed closely, individuals near the front of the school often fly, and their groups probably follow them, guided by the sound of their fall.

空飛ぶエイ！

正式名はムンクイトマキエイ／Munk's Devil Ray、実はあのマンタと同じ仲間です。

一般的には飛ぶのは全てオスで、メスにアピールするためと言われていますが、じっくり観察していると、群れの先頭付近の個体がよく飛んで、仲間がおそらくその落下音に導かれて、後についていくので、音で群れを先導したり、集めたりする役割もあるのかなと思っています。
