Title: “Boy and Cracked Earth"
Artist: Antoine Jonquière
Edition: 1 of 1 First time buyer only: High resolution file available with the purchase of this NFT
Description: From series 'Sankofa' Shot in 2018 in Ghana, ‘Sankofa’ is a series of portraits and an attempt to capture the paradox of the younger generation of Ghanaians, seemingly caught adrift between two worlds: the fast pace of one of the fastest-growing economies, and the quiet traditional life along the Gulf of Guinea. Coming from Twi, a dialect of the Akan language spoken in southern and central Ghana, ‘Sankofa’ literally means to go back and get what was taken.
Artist Bio: Antoine Jonquière is a French documentary and portrait photographer based in Southern France. Driven by research-led, self-initiated projects, he predominantly explores the diverse cultures and identities of different nations, by documenting the often complex and at times incongruous relationship that exists between tradition and modernity.
