ABOUT THE PIECE

The fourth piece in The Spear of Destiny Collection: Part II is the eleventh piece in the entire collection.

Ling, the self-appointed leader of DomiNation Beta1 and Beta3, has a reputation that is based as much upon myth as it is upon his own ruthless nature.

Appearing in the final chapter of HEROPLOT: The Spear of Destiny we learn that Ling is nicknamed The Lyncher because of his enjoyment of killing. More than this, it is said that he tortures and torments his victims with his switchblade, draining them of blood and leading them to the point of death, before staring into the eyes of his victims at the moment of their final breath to absorb their souls; something that is said to make him immortal. Myth and reality, however, are not one and the same and perhaps the time has come where Ling's own life will be tested?

METHOD

An initial complex montage was create to provide a base for Ling in the chair. Replaced by hand-drawn artwork, additional layers such as jewellery, the switchblade and gang motifs were then added to the base character. Multiple composites were then created to visualise the victim’s haunting face before being added and stylisation applied. Numerous layered effects were designed to create the aura and metaphysical energies before final colourisation was adjusted for the image and eyes of the character.
