Closely related to our much bigger lion's mane jellyfish, this Drymonema is just as much a killer as its huge half ton cousins. This beautiful pink individual, which we came across in the warm shallows out front of Lizard Island Research Station at the northern end of the Great Barrier Reef off the Queensland coast was seen to completely enfold and devour no less than five common Moon Jellyfish that were particularly plentiful that year. At one point it was found swimming around, clamped onto two common jellyfish its own size.
