Before computer graphic was popular, shop owners used to ask calligrapher to write a big signboard for their shops. Master Kin-Keung AU was a Chinese Medicine Practitioner since 1920s and a highly reputable “Master” in Chinese calligraphy. Many shop owners willing to pay a considerable amount of money and asked Master AU to hand-write their shop names. Shop owners will hang it in front of their shop as a signboard. It WAS an identity!
These hand-written signboards were highly praised nowadays and regarded as a good way to understand the development and evolution of Chinese language in Hong Kong over the years.
Chocolate Rain is a Hong Kong design brand founded in 2000. Chocolate Rain design is inspired by childhood dreams and wonderland adventure. Each piece is unique and handcrafted with mix medium and special artistic elements. Prudence is the founder and designer and graduated in Fine Art. In 2008, Prudence was granted the Design Smart scholarship to Central Saint Martin’ s London for MA Degree in Design Studies. Prudence received the 2010 Ten Outstanding Designers Award and is honored as one of Hong Kong’ s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2012 and Young Women Innovator Award 2013 by APEC. She is Executive Committee members of the Hong Kong Designers Association from 2004 to 2016.
