Chinese Shophouse was commonly built between 1900s till pre-War period. It is characterized by a small shop at ground level for commercial use and domestic use on 1st floor and above. Shops at ground floor promoted the economic growth and turned Hong Kong from a fish village to a well-known metropolitan.
This Chinese Shophouse, built in 1926, is located at the place (The Possesion Point) where British Navy landed on Hong Kong Island in 1841 and finally acquired the rule of Hong Kong until 1997.
Economic growth is somewhat brutal for historic buildings conservation and many old buildings were demolished and give-way for “re-development”. However, this building was luckily escaped from the “storm” and standing here for almost a hundred year!
Chocolate Rain is a Hong Kong design brand founded in 2000. Chocolate Rain design is inspired by childhood dreams and wonderland adventure. Each piece is unique and handcrafted with mix medium and special artistic elements. Prudence is the founder and designer and graduated in Fine Art. In 2008, Prudence was granted the Design Smart scholarship to Central Saint Martin’ s London for MA Degree in Design Studies. Prudence received the 2010 Ten Outstanding Designers Award and is honored as one of Hong Kong’ s Ten Outstanding Young Persons in 2012 and Young Women Innovator Award 2013 by APEC. She is Executive Committee members of the Hong Kong Designers Association from 2004 to 2016.
