Joyce Rowe Cooper is an American artist living in Berlin. Since the early 1990s, he has explored the tension between kitsch and high art through the disposable digital art. He was an early adherent of LA's Repeatist Movement (1996 - 2001) which sough to critique capitalism through GIFs, lossless JPEGs, TIFFs and other digital formats deemed by the art world to be mere facsimiles of an anointed "source document."
Though sometimes described as an outsider artist, Cooper has lectured at The Bonn School and New York's The New School since 2008 when his framings of capitalism gained new appreciation in the wake of subprime mortgage crisis.
All works here presented by Gallery Richard, Milan, Italy.
