This photo was taken at Crete Academy, a school in South Los Angeles, that focuses on serving students experiencing homeless and/or extreme poverty. On this day, a powerful mural of Nipsey Hussle was revealed on the academy’s basketball court. Kids from around Los Angeles came to participate in some basketball drills and games, being coached by local athletes and celebrities. After the kids had some fun, the local athletes and celebs played in a charity game.

Ermias “Nipsey Hussle” Asghedom was not only a hiphop artist but also a pillar of philanthropy in South Los Angeles. He opened businesses, gave back, and created a safe space for creatives to collaborate and create. After the tragic passing of Nipsey Hussle on March 31st, 2019, there were events in the city of Los Angeles to help remember his legacy.
A few of those include: A memorial at The Marathon Clothing Store City Hall voting to turn Slauson/Crenshaw to “Nipsey Hussle Square” The mural of Nipsey, painted on Crete Academy’s basketball court
