The series of paintings “Queste Libere Farfalle” (These Free Butterflies) was inspired by the song of Alfred Schnittke of the same name.

A butterfly is considered to be the symbol of death and rebirth since it goes through so many life cycles - from larva to caterpillar to chrysalis and finally to a beautiful flying butterfly.

I created these works during cancer treatment. It was quiet hard time for me. But art helped me go through it. Contemplating the process, I felt like a butterfly myself. I died, and I revived.

The cycle is infinite.
