Nama•slay [nah'-mah-slā] verb/exclamation The slay in me recognizes the slay in you!
This artwork is inspired by the women of my hometown- Jaipur in the colorful land of Rajasthan, India. I am blessed to have these woman around me who are culturally rooted and at the same time modern and badass!
The artwork features the famous 'Ajmeri Gate' from Jaipur as a frame around the woman- who is holding a cup of tea, another beautiful element from my city. My character wears the traditional garment called 'Ghagra-Choli' and wears bright red 'Henna' artwork on her feet.
Her hair flows through her veil with the swirling clouds and rising sun!
I aim to show the amalgamation of traditional heritage and contemporary lifestyle which these beautiful women embody. They wear a traditional veil (called 'Odhni' in local language) over their heads and they wear like a crown!
They're kind and soft but also bold and sassy. They can be flowers but also grenade showers.
So, here's a Nama•slay to you from queens of culture and contemporary!

UltraViolet Stories is a collection of powerful and enigmatic illustrated stories. These are characters and anecdotes I find around me in my everyday life. The Artworks represent the ordinary in my magical, bright and dynamic style.
I hope you find some magic and a piece of yourself in these stories.
