3d animation- loop duration: 26 seconds

“UNREST” is a sketch - 3d simulation of an interactive art installation. The installation consists of a sun lounger located on a metal prefabricated structure with refractory glass panels. Under the deck chair there is a pressure sensor and gas burners facing upwards inside the structure. When a person climbs on the structure and sits in the sun lounger, after 5 seconds, triggered by a pressure sensor, Arduino and servo motors the burners turn on and slowly increase the intensity of the fire. The fire burns while the person is lying in the deck chair. The work illustrates the inability to rest. Our contemporary way of life creates a habit of working even when we are supposed to be resting. Our brains are biologically wired to remind us of our problems constantly until they are solved which keeps us in “survival mode” and through time facilitates the inability to detach, relax and recover and eventually leads to burnout. Statistically, the most sought after medicines in Croatian pharmacies are sedatives, insomnia and depression drugs. The 3d model and animation were created for the Radoslav Putar award 2021 exhibition ( Split, Croatia ), for the best Croatian artist under the age of 40. Within a year-long research project that deals with the development of new skills and possibilities of artistic activity in the newly created world circumstances and in accordance with the local economic situation and the sustainability of object-oriented art. My artistic practice so far is focused on the production of interactive objects and installations that serve as intermediaries in communication and try to create a new perception of everyday life, a conceptual speculative product design of some kind. Since the works have been mostly tactile, usable and required the participation of an audience that is in some way close and personal, the emerging world conditions have led me to rethink my future directions of development. My intention is to create realistic 3d simulations of concepts-ideas for future works that can be produced when the right circumstances occur. “Unrest” is the first work to be produced and presented in this way and is part of a series of works that I will be developing over the following year.
