For my second editioned piece, I wanted to offer a photo that’s a little more vintage. This was a photo I shot about a year into picking up my camera again. I had spent over 2 hours studying a handful of Strelitzia that I had collected on a walk with my dog. The structure and colours are like no other flower. I was lost in the worlds I was discovering. One of my all-time favourite songs is by Donny Hathaway, A Song For You. There’s a lyric in that song that always hits me, I love you in a place where there’s no space or time. No Place Or Time felt like the right title for this image as it’s other worldly shapes, colours and textures are truly like another place or time. Although it’s not the original words, I hear that song in my head every time I look at this image. I exhibited this piece in my first exhibition after a 15-year break from the art world. It was the feature image on the invitation and took pride of place in the front window of the gallery. It’s been my representative since that day so it’s only fitting that it represents me again.
