Inspired by Mekatilili wa Menza, a fierce leader from coastal Kenya who fought for her people against oppression and land grabbers. Sent into exile on 17th October 1913 together with her ally by the oppressors, she escaped and trekked about 1, 000km through the dangerous forests, back to her homeland, Giriama to continue the fight right where she had stopped.

Mekatilili had a fierce group of women who were loyal to her and the fight.
