Shane Townley is an American artist, painter and environmentalist with over 20 years of success and experience. He was born in 1972 in Ithaca, NY and currently resides in upstate New York with a studio in Manhattan. At an early age he was always getting into major projects with his creative friends of his neighborhood. He is a 1994 graduate of the Platt School of Art & Design. After graduation, he worked for several newspaper and magazine publications in New York. In early 2004 the artist left the advertising world and dedicated his studies in his studio.   Townley’s primary focus is on global warming and the effect technology has on the human mind. 18 years ago In 2004, he opened his first collaborative art space and is currently featured in other NYC galleries. His work is also available internationally, for mostly private and corporate collectors.   In 2015 he created a collaborative art space on Broadway in Tribeca called the New York Art Center. With over 15,000 square feet, 3 levels and a cafe, it was developed as a monthly art fair for emerging and established artists from around the world. Currently, there are 4,000 artists associated with this project and in 2019, 12,000 art enthusiasts visited.   In March of 2020 Townley had a solo exhibition in Tribeca at 373 Broadway. The Show was the "Black Series" and was created in February of 2020 in his New York studio. His gallerist and curator of the show, Sonny Shenhan said, "this is the beginning of dark times to come." Then we all know what happened to the world in 2020.
In May of 2021 Townley created a 12'X12' painting entitled "Mother Earth" using trash, paint, texture and more. The painting shows a woman's eyes crying down the canvas over polar ice caps which is currently on display next to the Apple Store and Nordstrom in the Shops at Mission Viejo.

Shane Townley, born in 1972 Ithaca, NY, grew up in the beautiful town of San Clemente spending most of his time as a kid surfing the San Clemente Pier in perfect 70-degree SoCal weather. Years later, Kurt Cobain had just died and Townley, depressed, was painting in his garage when a close artist friend urged him to attend graphic design school, a place where he felt would further develop his creativity. It was in 1994, while attending the Platt School of Art & Design that Townley was actually asked to leave the school for creating personal works of art in defiance of the designated educational curriculum.

Since then, Townley has worked for several commercial newspaper and magazine publications, where he felt that, as a designer, his artwork was a tool for corporate waste.
