Townley b.1972 is an environmental artist creating heavy subjects since 2003 in Paint, photography, mixed media and digital. In 2015 the artist moved to New York and set up multiple studios. He would go on to have a solo show in Tribeca NYC at 373 Broadway in March 2020 entitled “the Dark Series” which had a line of people around the block waiting to get in. The Dark series was created in Feb of 2020 before covid would take over the world. In California the artist was commissioned to create a 12’x12’ painting entitled Mother Earth where the lower 1/3 of the painting is filed with trash and the upper portion of the painting has eyes closed and crying down the massive canvas. The painting is entitled: “Mother Earth” 12’x12’ mixed media (LagunaARTgallery)
Townley works are valued at $50,000-$70,000 as per appraisals.
The “Dark Series” is an emotionally dense body of work created on various mediums, canvas, linen, or board, featuring dark, broad black textured strokes. Townley was in New York for 4 years searching for the perfect space for the art center of NYAFAIR and NewYorkART.com venue. For the entirety of 2019, he built an art center, NewYorkART.com, with a staff of 20 which was 15,000 sq. ft, 3 levels and a cafe. In Feb 2020, Townley had a vision of dark times to come, which was revealed in his work called the "Dark Series". The "Dark Series" was displayed as a solo show during the month of March 2020. It just so happened to be the exact month the world was taken over by Covid, especially New York. This was the final month and the closing of the New York Art Center to follow Townley’s solo show.
