Every year from about November onwards and once the first rains have fallen some 45,000 zebra migrate from different parts of Botswana and converge around the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans.
For many it is an arduous journey of almost 1000 km's round trip to come down to the rich fresh grass and mineral rich water of these salt pans and one in which they definitely "earn their stripes".
