GO HOME is a portrait of one of the brave young female soldiers fighting in the Ukraine. Her blog on the web, showed her life in a main battle tank and the colorful stickers on her gun. When I checked back on her blog the following day I found that the her blog had been purged from the internet, She is no longer visible to the citizens of the world and I never got to know her name.

The NFT collection GO HOME consists of a 25 frame Animation (edition of 500) and 25 original high resolution art works named for the anonymous heroine who’s name we may never know.

A portion of all proceeds from this sale will be donated to Femworks.org , a non governmental feminist organization led by young women selflessly devoting their resources to support women in vulnerable groups and evacuating them to the western regions of Ukraine

Lara Schnitger (b.1969) is a Dutch-born artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. She has exhibited internationally since 1996. Schnitger uses female sexuality and depictions of the body as a tool to challenge what is deemed acceptably feminine versus obscene. The work is playfully over-the-top and exuberant yet serious; pointedly addressing the continued struggle for women’s equality and safety in a culture of patriarchy.

The artist uses rigid materials such as wood and resin in combination with soft materials like leather, fur, silk, cotton, and lycra to create sculptures that reference the female body. Her fabric paintings and quilts incorporate image and text, thus doubling their functionality as art and protest signs. By pairing techniques like dying, quilting, weaving, and sewing with tough and rebellious postures and messaging, the artist pushes the expressive power of traditional crafts.

Schnitger’s work is featured in the permanent collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art, San Diego, CA; The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles, CA; LACMA, Los Angeles CA, MOCA, Los Angeles CA, MOMA New York NY, Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA; DZ Bank Kunstsammlung, Frankfurt, Germany; FRAC Champagne-Ardenne, Rheims, France; KW, Berlin, Germany; Rubell Family Collection, Miami, FL; Perez Art Museum, Miami, FL; Saatchi Gallery, London, UK; and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Netherlands, among others.

Recent public art commissions include Patchwork of Light, an outdoor lightbox installation for the 22nd Biennale of Sydney, Australia (2020); Sister Of The Road, a monumental figurative sculpture presented on The High Line, New York, NY (2019-2020); and I WAS HERE, an interactive fabric installation at Hudson Yards, New York, NY (2019-2021). In October 2021, Schnitger’s first permanent outdoor sculpture entitled The Princess Saves Herself became the latest addition to The Sculpture Gallery, in The Hague, Netherlands.
