#18 "Dead forest" Sunrise in the “dead forest” in the area of the Tolbachik volcano (visible in the image, far on the left). In 1975 began a very strong eruption that lasted more than one year and covered all the forest for kilometers, so these trees are without leaves today. I enjoyed waking up every day (our camp was next to this place), to sit on the ash and look at the horizon and talk with my guides, even without any internet or phone connection. I visited the abyss of Earth in the Kamchatka peninsula in 2019. This collection includes volcanic landscapes of the territory in Far East Russia, seen from above, or closer, sometimes in contrast with the green nature of our Planet. In Kamchatka there is a continuous contrast with life and death, destruction. When I ventured in those pristine landscapes, together with two local guides, I lived an adventure in contact with nature, hundreds of miles from mankind, without internet or data connection. A journey which will live forever in my heart, especially for the sense of freedom I felt in front of those sceneries. This project was awarded as overall winner in MIFA awards 2020 and some of these collectible photos won several awards around the World, like International Landscape Photographer of the Year.
