Story

Growing up in a rural village in Eastern Europe as a kid, North America was something one could only see on a TV. It was something unreachable and laughable to dream about for most. Even though everything said NO, I didn’t want to stop dreaming.

As as I was taking pictures of falling apart huts and half-demolished post-soviet buildings outside my block-apartment, I kept imagining how one day I will move to concrete jungles to become one of those photographers flying over Manhattan on a helicopter, getting coffee around Central Park and edit photos while sipping on a wine glass overlooking skyline of a big city.

10 years later that vision manifested into reality without me even realizing it. Today I’m flying my bionic bird above The6ix and taking sunset pictures from Riverdale Park just like I dreamed of when I was 8.

For me as a photographer and as an immigrant, this collection and the editions embrace the impossible, the opportunities. A symbol of staying truthful to your passion until the very end. Keeping the fire that pushes you forward effortlessly, yet with so much of the hard work being done in the process.

Financially, I survive by a tiny thread. Mentally I live a happy life because I stayed truthful to my dreams. And that’s why these pieces resonate with me so much.

About The Editing

My passion for futurism is incorporated into each piece by using color-grading techniques. The goal was to create a feel of a futuristic city out of Toronto downtown.
