In early May 2021 multi-award-winning American singer/songwriter Billie Eilish, known for her baggy clothing style and alternative image caused a media stir when she released images from an upcoming British Vogue photoshoot in which she will appear on the cover.
Breaking from her trademark non-gendered style, she is dressed in lingerie with a focus on corsets. With her hair now blonde, the photos are reminiscent of vintage pin-ups. Pre-empting the inevitable criticism she was to take for the complete change in her style, she posted with on Instagram: “I love these pictures and i loved doing this shoot. do whatever you want whenever you want. fuck everything else.”
