When glaucoma affects the eye, the field of vision gradually becomes limited to a small circle. Peripheral vision is lost.

Szász, affected by glaucoma and cataract simultaneously, described his vision as "wide angle Zeiss lenses being replaced by cheap ones". The artist's motto in his life was simple: "Not to give up!". The double hit on his vision drove him to experiment even harder, but it also cut his artistic career short: he finished taking pictures in 1980 after only two decades' work as a photographer.
