The algorithms order random sequences of numbers in succession. They are executed in the lisp interpreter in the trace mode which allows to visualize the internal steps of the recursion.
Starting from the actual execution of the sorting algorithms the work develops along three lines: 1) Sorting: a color is assigned to each number so that the final sorted sequence has a well-terminated color scheme. 2) Dream: each dream is an image that is used to color the codes and steps of the recursion. The dream develops over time. At the beginning the dream is confused and the colors of the image are distributed with a component of randomness. This component decreases until the dream becomes clear and then fades away. 3) Narration: the work is accompanied by a synthetic voice that takes up the steps of the recursion, enunciates numbers, narrates the dreams and questions the human and/or artificial nature of the work.
Following the steps of a program that is sorting sequences of numbers, the artificial intelligence falls asleep and starts dreaming. Inside the flow of numbers and in the rush of recursive calls, childhood memories, secret loves, vintage postcards, old nursery rhymes and ancient fears emerge. Just as numbers find their order, so dreams, first blurred, become real and then dissolve. So the artificial intelligence comes out of her world and wonders if she is capable of dreaming. But aren't dreams the prerogative of human beings? The question that emerges is there waiting for an answer. But there is still no answer, or perhaps we do not have the courage to give it. After "Illusa fingo sogni fasulli" where the artificial intelligence inverts without rest this palindromic phrase Luca Gambardella continues the investigation on the dream of the artificial intelligence.
