JAPE story
Kola was confiscated by environment agents in Pointe Noire, aged about one year. He was in poor condition, with rope burns on hips when he arrived at the sanctuary. He was nursed back to health and reintroduced in to Lesio-Louna. After a few years he had to be taken back into captivity after repeated forays outside the reserve and entering villages. From my portrait you don’t get a sense of how huge he was.
