Millie was rejected by her mother and then diagnosed with cerebral palsy, the only orangutan known to survive with the disease. She needed constant care from her human surrogate mother in Miami. She was very sweet, with long hair sticking up straight like she’d stuck her fingers in an electrical socket.
James and Other Apes (#JAPES) presents 52 celebrated portraits of great apes, captured by James Mollison across four years and four continents. Shot in the aesthetic of the passport photograph, each Jape has their own unique traits and characteristics, and powerful stories which can be found at ART3.io/japes. 10% of net funds raised through NFT sales will be donated to the sanctuaries who rescued the apes and invited James in with his camera, and initial collectors will receive an archive quality certificated print with their Jape.
