In 2014, Ruja Ignatova founded one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in crypto history called OneCoin. The OneCoin scam is said to have brought in over $4 billion USD world-wide. In 2017, she vanished and has not been seen since.
NFT cash grabs in 2021 work in a very similar fashion to how Ruja operated: they take advantage of people who can’t tell the difference between legit projects and scams.
