Doto bella also known as the kissing doto is a species of sea slug, a dendronotid nudibranch in the family Dotidae. In Singapore, you can spot them usually on colony of hydroids, probably in the family Aglaopheniidae on which it presumably feeds. I am not very sure why it was called a kissing doto. Probably because you find them in pairs. Although this one was all alone.
Kissing dotos we have seen in singapore reefs are usually very tiny. This one was probably less than 1 cm. I had never seen one of them before this dive. It was funny that my much older dive buddy was pointing at this tiny guy and I was not able to see it. He had to take a photo and show it to me to tell that he was pointing at a kissing doto. Lucky day.

Volume 1 - Singapore is home to a large variety of animal and plant species, which can be found in their natural habitats. Be it dry land tropical rainforests, mangroves or coral ecosystems, there is a rich biodiversity to be found in our Nature. With this collection, I want to showcase some of the unknown underwater wonders in this local waters.
Unlike the rest of South East Asia, diving conditions in Singapore is challenging. On an average day we get only a visibility of 2-3 meters which can some time go towards 0 depends on the day. But these waters are a great place to photograph underwater macro life. This is going to be a two part series with a combined total of 25 photographs.
To make this world a better place, with every initial sale, we will be doing Marine Megafauna Foundation's whale shark adoption under collector's preferred name.
Let me show you a different Singapore from below.
