Heartbleed is a COVID-19 momento mori recognizing the losses of 2020. Each rose petal falling represents a human life and each petal falls timed to the day on which we lost that life. Created in 2020, this piece is now two years old.
The public art piece has been recognized in the New York Times, featured at the prestigious SPRING/BREAK and shown in the Arizona Historical Society Museum.
All creator fees from this sale will be donated - in perpetuity - to efforts to create a COVID-19 Memorial Day in the US. The proposed day is the first Monday of March of every year.
Heartbleed is the first ever NFT Memorial Art piece. It has been featured in the numerous publications like the New York Times, ABC and PBS, shown at the prestigious SPRING/BREAK art show and on display at the Arizona Historical Society Museum.
This digital work was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Each rose petal falling represents a human life and each petal falls timed to the day on which we lost that life. Every 2.5 seconds represents one day in 2020. As the hero piece in the collection progresses you can see the waterfall of losses suffered in the US.
Additional pieces will be added. The pieces on sale in this collection are intended to help off-set costs for families who have suffered COVID-19 related losses and to support organizations working to create a national memorial day. All creator funds will be donated to Marked by COVID - an organization lobbying to make March 7th a National Day of Memorial for those who lost family members to COVID-19.
