In many cultures throughout the globe, fertility and water are often represented by women. Beautiful Orisha Yemaya, from Africa, is the Goddess of the Living Ocean, and by extension perceived as the Mother of All, as life came out of water.

She is the other half of Olokun, at times seen like a sister, and others as a wife. As the Mother of All, she is said to help in many matters ranging from fertility to self-love. She is venerated in Africa, but also in Cuba and Brazil.
