‘Infancy’ reflects on the embryonic state of current AI. A single painting is taken and expanded into a high dimensional digital artwork using multiple Machine Learning processes. Although seemingly magically powerful, this is just the first sparks of life for the future of Artificial Intelligence .

The artwork is visually inspired by the method of training used by the AI. The GAN uses a colourful static as an initial image, it is from here that it iteratively improves until the first glimpses of the painting start to emerge.

Rather than focusing on a more refined, complete image, the artwork leads the viewer on a journey through what is more reflective of the learning stages of the GAN process. Only occasionally does the definitive version of the original painting surface.

This is an artwork of beginnings, a symbol of how we really are early. Early to witness a technology which will transform our lives. Early to understand that Machine Learning will become a part of our everyday. Early to see the future.

There are four "Iterations" of this piece, which are shorter experiences through the artwork. The original oil painting will be sent to the first person to purchase this NFT, if they want. Subsequently it will not be tied to this Token.
