Aligned with Sopdet II is a HD Video Collage building on my original photo Aligned with Sopdet which is part of my Sacred Star of Isis Series (2017-2018). This piece is inspired by the Kemetic Goddess Sopdet. With this series, I used my body as a central figure as I created an environment that manifested conversations between African deities and the African Diaspora. These deities have shape shifted and traveled throughout space and time, while also existing in an alternate world. This understanding gives me the freedom to create various iterations of these beings as they interfere, interact, intersect and confront social and cultural ways of the African diasporas past, present and future. With this series I think about the possibilities of freedom within a society that insists on oppression.
