Colin Goldberg, Memesis, 1999-2021. 1/1 NFT. 23-second MPEG-4 video, 1126×1524 px.

This work is about transformation. It is based on the eponymous vector-based digital drawing from the artist's Metagraph series. The original composition was created in 1999 in Goldberg’s East Village studio in NYC, drawn on a PowerMac 8600 and a Wacom tablet in Illustrator 8. It was reborn as an audiovisual NFT 22 years later and includes original audio mixed by the artist. "Memesis" was exhibited as a digital monoprint on canvas in Goldberg's 2011 “Techspressionism” solo exhibition in Southampton, New York. This show's title was the first usage of the term “Techspressionism”, which was later described as a movement in the 2014 WIRED article "If Picasso had a MacBook Pro". Goldberg's works reside in notable private and public collections, including Spalter Digital and The Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center. This 1/1 NFT was minted on 12/23/21, the Bronx-born artist’s 50th birthday.
