After a 76 – day, 17,000 KM trip by car through Chile, Bolivia, Argentina & Peru to witness a solar eclipse above San Juan, Argentina I arrived to San Pedro de Atacama, Chile.
I had the idea of watching and making time-lapse photography of the Perseid meteor shower from the valley of Mars, but this was impossible do due to the moon phase at the time which was almost full. The surrounding volcanoes of the area with the moonrise at the correct time with the proper planning would deliver an interesting result. This shot was taken from the valley of mars at a focal length of 791mm. The foreground and landscape are equally illuminated by the sun at around 5:15 PM a day prior to the full moon which gave a correctly balanced single – shot exposure. This was the end of a 76-day, 17,000 KM by car through Chile, Bolivia, Argentina & Peru.
