'8SIAN Red Papercut'

1/1 NFT Fully hand-drawn Only 36 Goddesses in the ENTIRE 8,888 Collection

It is said paper was invented by Cai Lun, a court official within the Eastern Han Dynasty. It is suspected that briefly after this time the the art of paper cutting was invented. As the costs to make paper lowered, paper cutting became one of the most prolific forms of Chinese folk art.

The color red is often chosen for the paper as red is used in many Chinese celebrations and represents happiness in the Chinese culture. Cut-paper artwork is very commonly used for Chinese New Year, weddings and childbirth, again as it is synonymous with good fortune and contentment.
