Nicolas, a Cuban parrot, has lived in Paris for many years with a flock of other Cuban parrots. While he has a family and is a free bird who nests in the cavities of France's black locust tree, Nicolas is kind of an outcast among his fellow parrots. While his friends pair up and fly away from the flock during the day, he's often left to fly alone. He doesn't mind the solitude, but one day he decided to venture further than his flock typically goes. He's now too far to find his way back and wonders if he'll ever see his friends again. ---

The artwork depicted and named “The Lost Parrots” represents a series of 20 parrots, hand-selected from the ornithological works of Francois Levaillant. Dated to the late 1700’s and early 1800’s, these black and white representations of the original illustrations are an ode to Jimmy Buffett’s “Parrothead” brand. These 20 parrots have lost their way in The City of Light, for one reason or another, and are trying to find their way back home.

About the Artist: Francois Levaillant was a naturalist, born to a rich merchant and French consul to Dutch Guyana. A celebrity in his own right, Levaillant was more than just a naturalist. He was also an author, a zoological collector, an explorer, and a noted ornithologist.

Born in 1753, Levaillant collected insects, caterpillars, and animals, but he was most famous for his arrangement and study in ornithology, the branch of zoology that concerns the study of birds.

Tri-lingual in Dutch, German, and French, he later applied an ordering system, that he created as a child for his collection of insects, to his collection of birds, many of which he killed himself. In his identification of each bird, or species of birds, he often used French names, some of which are used today. Between 1799 and 1808, Levaillant wrote a six-volume Histoire Naturelle de Oiseaux d’Afrique that described the habits and appearance of the thousands of specimens of birds he collected and studied.

Levaillant’s contributions to ornithology, specifically avifauna in South Africa, are profoundly influential. As such, many African bird names and descriptions pay homage to the most famous ornithologist of the 1700’s.

Option B: If unsold by Option A prior, via a 90-day smart contract declining bid auction beginning on December 20, 2031 at 12:00 noon Eastern Time.

The terms of any future sale of the underlying asset are set and known to all parties at the time of sale and can’t be amended. Collision NFT owners do not vote and even a future majority owner cannot change the asset sale terms. The custodian of the Collision.art smart contract and underlying assets is Blokpax, LLC, a South Carolina Limited Liability Company. Blokpax will insure the assets for current fair market value as updated annually and maintain asset safe keeping. All assets held in custodianship are subject to an annual audit.

Within 30 days of an underlying asset sale, the custodian will provide a mechanism for disbursement of the net proceeds (pro-rata to the crypto wallets holding the applicable art edition NFTs) and changing meta-data to reflect the underlying asset has been sold.
