Starting May 9, 2017 Curio Cards were released weekly in sets of three. However when it came time for cards 17 to 19, an error with cards 18 and 19 made them unobtainable. The solution was to quickly release brand new versions of cards 17-19. This should have been the end, but by fate, the original card 17 was still purchasable but forgotten.
In March 2021, Curio Cards were rediscovered by NFT collectors. Being older than platforms like OpenSea, a wrapper had to be created to make Curio Cards compatible. Just as the wrapper was being completed, daring ethereum archeologists discovered the secret of the forgotten card 17. Referred to now as the misprint card, this 17b card was found too late to include in the main wrapper, but is now available here.
Although entirely unintentional, 17b's story uncannily imitates the contents of its art: It tells the story of the UASF, a contentious proposal to create a duplicate version of Bitcoin in 2017. Maybe you can spot how the wrapped 17b artwork builds on this story?
Created by the same team as the official verified wrapper, this 17b-only wrapper has the same 1% artist royalty, going entirely to the original Curio Cards Artists. Join the Curio Discord and check out the Curio Docs to learn more.
Curio Cards are the First art show NFTs on Ethereum, launched May 9, 2017 and pre-dating CryptoPunks. Featuring 30 unique series of cards from seven different artists, Curio Cards is referenced in the ERC-721 NFT Standard and pioneered features later adopted in the ERC-1155 NFT Standard. Check out the Curio Docs and Join the Curio Discord to learn more.
Given their age, Curio Cards are wrapped to work on newer platforms like OpenSea. If you purchased cards directly from the original contracts before March 2021, you can wrap them here. Otherwise, you don't need to do anything. All cards on OpenSea are already wrapped and don't need to be unwrapped to collect.
The 1% artist royalty goes entirely to the original Curio Cards Artists.
