The Mask does more than protect our identity; it also conceals our feelings and presents something archetypal and elevated to the world. Behind the mask lies a mess of complicated, conflicting emotions. There are many masks one might wear, and IDEATION represents the mask of a creator through the work produced.

In this piece, IDEATION, the construction of the audiovisual presentation aims to reflect the struggle of the inner critic. As an artist, it is crucial to find a balance between self-critique and creativity. Self-critique is essential for maintaining the quality and standards of your work and assessing its effectiveness in communicating its intended theme, narrative, or emotion. However, being overly critical can prevent you from releasing, supporting, or believing in your work.

Ideation represents the critical forces at play for the creator when releasing work. The audio and visual components collaborate to create a narrative loop that both commemorates my work up to this point and critiques it, addressing the inherent theme of the piece.

The visual components were created from timelapses and insertions of some previous collections, also utilising Runway ML Gen 2 and Runway ML Gen 3, Luma Labs Dream Machine, Pika Labs, Midjourney and Comfy Ui The audio is generated through ElevenLabs for sound fx as well as dialogue. The work was also created with the assistance of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere and Adobe AfterEffects.
