2027 x 2875 | An expression of a hopeless traumatic realization, of being unable to escape a physical living hell surrounding her, while already living the greatest sorrow no parent should ever witness. A mother kangaroo holding her breathless burnt and suffocated baby, stops running away as opposed to other panicked kangaroos, and takes a moment to let go of hope while taking in all the pain, "freezing in a burning forest". This artwork engages with ideas of anguish, hopelessness and terror, but in the same time it combines elements of acknowledgement and sudden inner peace, though the latter can be very difficult to observe when everything externally points otherwise. In Australia, dozens of fires erupted in the year of 2019 and continued into early 2020, rapidly spreading across all AU states in an area about the size of South Korea where roughly 25.5 million acres, has burned. More than 1 billion mammals, birds, and reptiles likely lost their lives in the blazes. (K.O. Edition)
