Following the path of her ancestors on one of the most extraordinary journeys of survival. A dangerous trek with odds stacked up against her, one of which only one turtle amongst ten thousand survive. Born of the warm sands, she descends her first treacherous feat to the waters edge. She then rides the ocean currents, swimming North towards the Arctic. Her siblings are lost in sudden storms, and unpredictable winds. She is alone and swims the entire stretch of the North Atlantic across to the seas to Africa, coming face to face with creatures in the dark deep sea. Travelling the way of her ancestors she drifts the oceans currents, and comes into dangerously cold waters. Hungry, she eats a jelly fish, but it doesn’t taste as normal. Heading on and navigating towards a harbour, she swims up for air feeling the rays of sunshine on her face. Out of nowhere a boat jets towards her. Frightened, she swims as fast as she can from the harbour. She nearly dies at the hands of a fisherman's net. After days of swimming she is weak but is not hungry. She reaches the the reef on the other side of the Atlantic and is nearly drowning from exhaustion. She simply can't go on. Hours pass and sharks have picked up on her struggle. A small boat with a woman and two men in scrubber suits tug up to her. They save her, and take her to get medical attention. They keep her hydrated while she is in surgery, pouring water over her. The marine doctor pulls a large white plastic bag from the turtle's stomach, which was making her feel full and when she was in fact starving. They rehabilitate her for several weeks before releasing her back in to safe waters. She celebrates life, but knows unsavoury changes are happening in the deep.
