Green monochrome pixel rendering of a human skull ink painting by Skeenee.

"I will never forget the first computer I laid my hands on, the weird humming, the glow of the green screen. What an awesome feeling that was. This is an homage to retro-tech and to the infamous RobCo terminals."

Skeenee´s CGA SKULLS series is part of the "Tech II Skulls" collection. A collection in which layers of digital upgrades are added to his traditional ink painting series.

"The auditor was sat at his terminal working, the office was empty, it was late and he was bored; tonight was Skeeco’s monthly inventory check. “Why they need me here this late”, he thought, “I’ll never know”. Suddenly he noticed something strange. His art asset list was no longer a list; it had been overlaid with skulls, big green skulls.

“Bloody Hackers”, he groaned, “that’s my coffee break screwed”. Worried that things might go south real fast, he muttered “I’d better find out what they’re up to”.

He walked over to the corner of the office to where the server was installed and sat down. He gave the mouse a nudge and the console in front of him lit up with a jolt; its green hues reflecting against the sweat on his brow. He turned the keyboard over and glanced at the post it note stuck to the underside. His boss’ scrawly writing stared back at him; he logged on. There was no time consider the security implications of putting login credentials on a post it note, he must discover what they were doing.

A quick search on the server revealed the true extent of it; they’d planted these images all over the server and they’d somehow gotten mixed in with the data. He opened one of the images to check the damage. “Hey, they’re not bad you know, these hackers have talents”. He opened the next; “wow, these are really good”. A thought flashed through his mind.

He pulled out a USB stick and stuck it in the server; the green flashing light indicating that it had connected. With a flourish of the mouse he had gathered all the image files together and copied them across. “I wonder if these will sell on Opensea”, he mused, rubbing his damp palms together, dreams of a digital fortune in the forefront of his mind…"
