In the internet age, a planetary networked consensus created our common response to coronavirus pandemic, but at same time showed the scope of the 'anti-science bias,' or science denialism – not just a simple matter of ignorance or logic – notoriously in the United States. For first time in human history, a majority of world population has been in a global lockdown for months to control the outbreak and avoid the breaking of health system. At the moment, the worst has been avoided globally with striking exceptions, such as the United States or Brazil, but 'the motivated reasoning,' the beliefs or bias, makes the ground fertile for ‘The Second Wave’ of covid that is already hitting like a tsunami in Israel. Worldwide after relaxation of lockdown, cases are surging. And the deads and sicks, the suffering and the aftermath are very different. The most effective and enduring results have been obtained in Vietnam, that was on higher alert for their experience with SARS in 2003 and have “done it through mass mobilization of the health care system, public employees, and the security forces, combined with an energetic and creative public education campaign.” Also thrilling results where obtained when the bottom-up response was more powerful (Hong Kong), where the measures were taken more rapidly (Greece), where the action were more planified (South Korea), where the sanitary crisis was managed by women (New Zealand), where the policy has been decentralised (Germany). We must learn. The system was revealed cracked worldwide. This is just a first warning. Five months ago from the WHO pandemic declaration. The world is already facing a worsening multipolar pandemic and, as The Lancet, one of the world's oldest and best-known general medical journals, explains, “the worst of covid-19 may be yet to come.” Lockdown bought time but has not been taken advantage to reinforce and ameliorate the health-care system and essential services. In the longer term, epidemiologist warns that this pandemic is not The Big One. Increasingly we live in a network society, in a complex and uncertain world. We need to define, refine and mature networked solutions. That’s crystal clear in the current crisis. Since the response to the outbreak to the search of a vaccine, the network dynamics was, is and will be key.
