shifting_sands_01.gif is the first of a few collaborative pieces, some unreleased, engineered by Alexander Scriminger @alexander and William Patterson @will on SuperRare. The piece features a small structure in the desert among the shifting sands. Created in Minecraft, it was a means of pushing the limits of what Minecraft can do as a platform for artistic creation rather than game design. The Minecraft based voxel art is combined with elements in MAXON’s Cinema4D such as moving water, clouds, and simplistic geometry. This creates a unique piece developed in a game that is not commonly known as a medium for art. This piece is a feat of technical experimentation. Utilizing mediums that have limitations, in this case Minecraft and its voxelized style, can lead to even greater creativity than using mediums with fewer limitations. This piece challenges common perspectives on this medium and proves that proper art can be produced within it. But the story makes this piece all the better. A recommended read, the backstory for this piece on Cent: beta.cent.co/+tosjlm
