I made this piece ad celebrationem (A celebration) to share a bit of my thinking. To me art is a result of a desire of expression and execution. The medium and the time spent is less important than the feeling of completion and contentment it leaves behind. I for example often find myself paying homage to great artists of past times because I truly admire what they produced and I try to imagine what they would have been able to accomplish with the great tools we have nowadays and how technology would influence their work, hence the use of VR googles and modern textures in my work. Playing with light, colors and textures on the classics brings me joy and this is why I tend to gravitate towards it. I do not make art with the goal of maximizing financial returns. If I looked at art this way, I would not spend dozens of hours fixing a reflection, developing the right shadows or muting an otherwise bright color. I find great gratification sometimes in the littlest of details even if the effort spent is substantial and this is because I’ve already rewarded myself at that point.
